NIDAROS CATHEDRAL'S GIRLS' CHOIR

Nidaros Cathedral’s Girls’ Choir was established in 1992, and is an important part of the musical life of Trondheim. In addition to performing a lot of concerts, the Choir also participates at Services and other arrangements in the Nidaros Cathedral. The Choir is characterized by a high artistic level, as well as great musical variety, and has made first performances of works by several Norwegian composers. The Choir has 85 members divided in the Girl Group, 10 - 15 years old, and The Youth Group, 15 - 21 years old. In addition comes the Aspirant Choir, which is organized through The Music and Culture School in Trondheim, and led by Randi Lundemo.


Anita Brevik, Conductor and artistic director
Anita Brevik is the artistic leader and conductor of Nidaros Cathedral’s Girls’ Choir. She has been with the Choir since the establishment in 1992 and has always been an important source of inspiration for the girls. Many years of systematic work with the girl's voices have created an even and harmonic choir-sound.
Anita wishes to develop the girl's musical understanding and to give them good vocal and musical ideals through different sorts of music and cooperation with various musicians and artists.

2002
* Performed at the Wedding of HRH Princess Märtha Louise and Ari Behn.

2003
* Won the Golden Diploma at the Musica Mundis European Competition in Budapest.
* Vivaldis Gloria CD recording and concerts in The Nidaros Cathedral together with The Norwegian Baroque Orchestra and the soloists Noemi Kiss, Catherine King, Linn Andrea Fuglseth and Marianne Beate Kielland, conducted by Edward Higginbottom.

2004
* Performed Vivaldis Gloria in Oslo during Oslo International Church Music Festival.
* Evensong, New College Chapel, Oxford, England
* A cappella concert in Norwich, England during the Norwich and Norfolk Festival.
* Sami Concert with Frode Fjellheim and orchestra. (Sami-inspired World Music).

2005
* Participated at the Memorial Service for the Tsunami-victims live on Norwegian TV.
* Concert in the Nidaros Cathedral with new music by Petra Bjørkhaug to texts from Anders Arrebo, Bishop of Nidaros around 1720.
* Private concert in the Nidaros Cathedral for the Emperor and Empress of Japan.
* Participated in “A St. Olaf Christmas in Norway”, a concert in the Nidaros Cathedral together with St. Olaf College Choir for the American TV Company PBS and Norwegian TV. The program was broadcasted in USA and Norway during Christmas2005, and also recorded on CD/DVD.
* The CD recording of Vivaldis Gloria was launched by the Norwegian Gramophone Company Kirkelig Kulturverksted. The Choir performed parts of Gloria in a TV-Concert arranged as part of a Nationwide Fundraising Event.
* Vivaldis Gloria was played on American Radio at Christmas.

2006
* 12 day tour of the USA
* Participated in Coronation Jubilee at Nidaros Cathedral
